For many of us, enjoying a glass of wine is a cherished ritual, a moment of relaxation at the end of a hectic day. However, the joy of that indulgence often comes with unwanted consequences: a bloated belly and a sluggish, blah feeling the next day.

Then there are the summer fast slim plans that leave you feeling dissatisfied. When you’ve got to cut the alcohol, one thing that is often missed is a nice cocktail.

What if you could still enjoy a “mocktail” and keep your gut healthy and belly flat?

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

  • ½ cup coconut water

  • ½ cup aloe vera juice

  • Handful ice cubes

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Cut the passion fruit in half and scoop the pulp into a glass.

Passion fruit is not just for flavor; it's packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that boost your immune system and promote healthy digestion.

  1. Add the coconut water, aloe vera juice, lime juice, and ice cubes, and stir gently.

Coconut water is hydrating and rich in electrolytes, making it a great choice for maintaining a healthy gut. Aloe vera juice soothes the digestive tract and aids in digestion, while lime juice adds a zesty kick and is known for its detoxifying properties.

GutSMART Tip:

If passion fruit is not in season, you can substitute pineapple  Cut the pineapple into chunks and pop it in a blender to create a pineapple puree with the consistency of passion fruit. Use ½ cup pineapple puree. Pineapple is a fantastic alternative because it contains bromelain, an enzyme that aids digestion and reduces inflammation.

Traditional cocktails can be dehydrating and taxing on the liver, whereas these mocktails are hydrating, nourishing, and beneficial for your gut, rich in microbiome supporting polyphenols. By using ingredients like coconut water and aloe vera juice, you're giving your digestive system a boost while enjoying a delicious drink.

Experiment and Enjoy!

Feel free to get creative with your mocktails. You can experiment with different fruits, herbs, and spices to create your own signature gut-friendly drinks. Add a sprig of mint for a refreshing twist, or a dash of ginger for an extra digestive kick. The possibilities are endless, and the journey of discovering new flavors can be just as enjoyable as the drinks themselves.
